COLORADO SPRINGS — Julia Herbst and her son were identified by police as the two people killed in a wreck that closed a portion of South Circle Drive for more than five hours Sunday.
The boy’s name was not released by police, but they said he was under 10 years old.
Brandi Burks, 24, was driving a Mercury Mariner that struck Herbst’s 2003 Toyota Corolla at Ellingwood Drive shortly after 2 p.m. Sunday. Police said Burks was cited with careless driving resulting in death.
Police said Burks was headed north on Circle Drive toward Fountain Boulevard when she ran off the right side of the road, then continued driving until she T-boned the side of Herbst’s sedan.
