AURORA, Colo.—Aurora police have detained a teen who was sought after her mother died in what was described as a family disturbance.

Police say 18-year-old Isabella Guzman was taken to police headquarters Thursday, but she isn’t formally being held for homicide. Police previously had described Guzman as a suspect in the case.

Investigators say officers were responding to a report of a family disturbance Wednesday night when they found the woman in grave condition inside a house. The woman was later pronounced dead. Police spokesman Frank Fania says she had multiple stab wounds. Her name wasn’t immediately released.

Officers detained Guzman on Thursday after they saw her walking out of a parking garage where they found a car with items believed to be related to the death.
