Fight at detox center. A 28-year-old Thornton man was arrested Aug. 5 for assault. Officers were dispatched at 2:42 a.m. to the Arapahoe House detoxification center, 7373 Birch St., on a call of a fight in progress. According to a report, the suspect got into an argument with a 24-year-old Federal Heights man while he was on the phone with his girlfriend. The suspect punched him, threw the victim on the ground and kicked him repeatedly until staffers broke it up.

Man assaulted at McDonald’s. Police were dispatched at 2:25 p.m. to McDonald’s, 6050Parkway Drive, on a report of an assault. A 19-year-old Commerce City man stated he went to the restaurant to visit her girlfriend when he saw a 21-year-old man who has been “after him.” The suspect called him out and started a fight, according to a report.

Suspicious vehicle checks out. Police were dispatched at 11:44 a.m. Aug. 25 to Turnberry Parkway and Highway 2 on a report of a suspicious vehicle. A white Ford pickup was unlocked and contained survival gear, police say. There were also wires running from a cigarette lighter into a plastic container on the floor. A police bomb dog was deployed, but nothing suspicious was found.

One dead in car wreck. A 47-year-old Aurora man was killed in a traffic accident Aug. 24. The accident happened at about 1 p.m. near Highway 85 and Weld County Road 6. The victim was a tow-truck driver who was sweeping up debris from a previous crash. The driver of a pickup truck hit a state trooper’s car, which in turn ran into the tow-truck driver, according to a report. The state trooper was airlifted to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police say.
