Denver’s Community Planning and Development department led its first outdoor interactive planning event Sept. 19 as a way to get feedback from the community.
Triangle Transformations focused on improvement ideas for the Golden Triangle neighborhood. Rather than have a normal community meeting, planners decided to have a bigger event to attract more people.
The department closed off Acoma Street between 11th and 12th Avenues and had live music, games and pizza while people could go around to stations, talk to planners and give suggestions.
“Based on the results we’ve had, I bet we’ll be doing more of this,” Andrea Burns, community planning and development spokeswoman, said.
Planners also decorated the street, demonstrating how it would look with expanded crosswalks and bike lanes.
