Carpenter, of Commerce City, has been charged with a count of child abuse with knowing or reckless conduct not resulting in injury, a misdemeanor, for each child on the bus, a total of 36 charges, the DA’s office said. He also faces five counts of reckless endangerment, also a misdemeanor, for each adult on the bus.
Carpenter’s next scheduled court appearance is Monday.
Westminster police say Carpenter was taking the Mountain Range High School freshman football team from a game at Prairie View High School when the bus hit a vehicle.
