Not quite legal yet. A 20-year-old man was cited for having drug paraphernalia Sept. 19 after Lakewood police stopped his vehicle at West Colfax Avenue and Simms Street for an unreadable temporary plate. The man, who was visibly shaking, admitted he had a marijuana pipe but no medical card.

Whose jersey is it? Police were called to Morse Park, 8180 W. 20th Ave., on Sept. 19 for a fight. Witnesses said a man and woman were arguing over a jersey and pulling it back and forth. At some point, the woman fell. The man, the father of the woman’s two kids, was arrested.

Actually, it is a crime. Police responded to the 1400 block of South Pierce Street on Sept. 18 after a man said his neighbor was threatening to kill him because of his heritage. When police arrived, the neighbor was yelling racial slurs and threats at the man, a Muslim. The neighbor also said he could say those things “all day” because “it’s not a crime.” He was arrested for bias-motivated intimidation.

Stolen tools, IDs. Police were called to Sears, 10785 W. Colfax Ave., on Sept. 18 for a theft. A man was seen putting hand tools in his pants before grabbing cologne, clothes and jewelry, worth $1,194 collectively, and exiting the store. He was stopped by police, at which point they also found two stolen IDs. He was jailed.

Animal cruelty. On Sept. 10, animal control went to the 200 block of Van Gordon Street to investigate a report of a dog dead in a cage next to a Dumpster. The deceased female cattle dog mix was emaciated and 1-2 years old. The dog’s owner was charged with animal cruelty and neglect.
