WALSENBURG, Colo.—A 5-year-old boy was killed and a 71-year-old man seriously injured in an ATV crash in southern Colorado.
The Colorado State Patrol says the accident happened Tuesday on private land west of Walsenburg.
The 71-year-old was driving a 2006 Polaris Magnum. Investigators say the Polaris rolled backward and on top of the occupants.
The injured driver was identified as 71-year-old Guy Webber of La Veta. The boy died on the scene and wasn’t immediately named. The State Patrol identified him as a 5-year-old boy from La Veta, but didn’t say if he was related to the driver. Neither occupant was wearing a helmet.
Authorities say alcohol and drug use are not suspected as contributing factors to the crash.
