Crews were working to cleanup and reopen Interstate 25 in Colorado Springs Tuesday after a truck hauling pipes rolled, spilling its load across the highway.
All lanes of I-25 between Cimarron Street and Nevada Avenue were closed because of the overturned truck and a multiple-vehicle crash, Colorado Springs police said.
Shortly after 8:20 a.m. a large flat-bed truck carrying pipes overturned just south of Cimarron Street, blocking all northbound lanes. The oversized pipes spilled over to the southbound lanes and caused several vehicles to crash, but only minor injuries were reported, Sgt. Bradley Pratt said.
The investigation and clean up were expected to take several hours and drivers were strongly encouraged to avoid the area and find alternate routes.
