Two-year-old local craft brewery Denver Beer Co. on Wednesday announced plans to open a production brewery and packaging operation in north Denver, where it will start canning and bottling.
Denver Beer is under contract on a 48,000-square-foot warehouse on three acres at 4455 Jason St., said co-owner Patrick Crawford. The brewery will lease space in the building for a couple of years before purchasing it under the agreement, he said.
The new 30-barrel brewhouse, which should crank up by April, will brew popular beers such as Graham Cracker Porter and Kaffir Lime Wheat that will be sold in canned six packs in metro Denver, Crawford said.
Denver Beer’s existing brewery on Platte Street will focus on more experimental beers.
The expansion will cost an estimated $2 million, not including the property purchase, and is being financed by a Small Business Administration loan, the brewery’s second, Crawford said.
