Interview with Tara lee Dover, owner

How did you get involved in this business?

I have always had a love for antiques. I started selling vintage items on Etsy in 2011. Looking to expand my business, I saw the success food trucks were having here in Denver and I thought going mobile would be the perfect opportunity to share my love and passion throughout Denver.

What distinguishes you from other businesses in your category?

A: The fact that we are mobile. We can set up shop almost anywhere in town. We sell the best quality handpicked vintage clothing, furniture, kitchenware and décor from the 1950s, ’60s and ’70s. Being mobile also gives us the ability to cater to a diverse clientele.

What do you like best about your line of work?

I love to treasure hunt. The most rewarding part of the business, though, is going out and setting up our mobile shop all over Denver. In doing so, I have met so many wonderful people all over town who share the same love for vintage as I have.

What is your business’ biggest challenge?

Since we are mobile, it can be challenging at times to find parking to set up shop. We love meeting new local bars, coffee shops and restaurants to partner with all over town. Partnering with local shops provides a unique experience for both the shops and the consumers. We are still trying to find a way to adapt our mobile shop to accommodate all seasons of the year.

Something people might be surprised to learn about you or your business:

A: We restored Lucy (our trailer) ourselves. My husband and I, with the help of some great friends and family, completely transformed our 1957 Shasta into a mobile shop. We named her “Lucy, the la lovely mobile.”
