LOS ANGELES — Officials are examining why a Transportation Security Administration officer bled for 33 minutes before he was taken to paramedics after a shooting at Los Angeles International airport.
Two law enforcement officials who viewed surveillance footage of the Nov. 1 shooting at LAX say it took 33 minutes before TSA officer Gerardo Hernandez was wheeled out to paramedics because police had not declared the terminal safe to enter. It was not known when Hernandez died or whether immediate medical attention could have saved his life. The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because of the ongoing investigation.
One official briefed on the investigation said officials are looking at whether paramedics could have entered the terminal earlier.
