Fiction: James McBride for “The Good Lord Bird.”
Nonfiction: George Packer for “The Unwinding: An Inner History of New America”
Poetry: Mary Szybist for “Incarnadine”
Young People’s Literature: Cynthia Kadohata for “The Thing About Luck.”
Winners receive $10,000 and generally see a large bump in sales.
