Though the air outside is frightful, but you can warm up with the soulful EDM of Denver’ . Steal this track!
If you were to tell the uninformed, analogue-happy folks who poo-poo EDM that some of the best electronic music is rich in soul, they would call bullshit. But one only need to reference Colorado EDM hero . Derek Vincent Smith has defined himself by mining old vinyl sounds and incorporating them in EDM for a sound that has heart. Denver EDM duo Krooked Drivers, comprised of Maddy O’neal and Donnie Dalbora, also produce EDM music that sheds the cold nature of digital.
On “Right Beneath Your Feet,” a six-track album released in late November, Krooked Drivers explore a wide range of electronic sounds from acid jazz to glitch-hop with soul music vocal hooks, groove oriented beats, and brass hooks. It’s danceable, for sure, but it’s also music well-suited for sipping scotch in a swanky lounge.
Below, download “On the Line,” then download the whole album for free at Austin-based .
Please note that downloads offered via Steal This Track are intended to whet your appetite, and are NOT CD-quality recordings. If you want those, please support the artists by buying their music and/or seeing them live.
