Dance music purveyor Beatport has fired about 20 employees in its Denver office and closed its San Francisco office,

In February, the Denver-based company was purchased by SFX Entertainment for $58.5 million. SFX lost about $2.5 million on Beatport in 2013. , SFX is cutting teams that aren’t making money.

Tech Crunch is reporting that Beatport sent HR to the San Francisco office to handle the firings because it was concerned employees would “trash the office.”

“With the additional resources provided by SFX, we are making significant new investments in Beatport and focusing on providing the best possible experience for our users – the DJ, the producer, the labels and the entire Electronic Music Culture community.” “We have closed our San Francisco office, reorganised our engineering team, and cut some positions in Denver.”

Beatport could not be reached when contacted by Reverb Monday afternoon. Founded in 2004 by Brad Roulier and Jonas Tempel, the online dance music store also offers Beatport Play and Beatport Mixes. Beatport has offices in L.A., Tokyo and Berlin.
