
Nobody can spend like Texas. That’s the confirmation from Forbes’ in the country, which was released Wednesday.
According to Forbes, the Texas Longhorns football program is worth $139 million, which is an increase of almost 20 percent from last year. That figure is $20 million higher than Notre Dame, Texas’ next closest competitor. Alabama is third on the list with an estimated value of $110 million.
Forbes credits the Longhorns’ football fortunes largely to their fan base, which it says has helped Texas lead all schools in merchandise sales, score the largest “school-specific” TV deal and become the only college football program in history to have its revenue exceed $100 million in a season.
Texas has been on top of Forbes’ list since 2009.
