JACKSON HOLE, Wyo. — An avalanche killed a snowboarder Thursday just outside the boundary of Jackson Hole Mountain Resort.

Resort officials say the avalanche happened around 12:50 p.m.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene about 1:30 p.m.

Resort officials weren’t releasing the identity of the male victim.

The Jackson Hole News & Guide reported that the slide happened at about 10,300 feet on an east-facing slope called the Pucker Face. Others who were with the snowboarder saw the slide happen and dug him out of the snow.

Attempts to revive the victim were unsuccessful.
