
Dirty driving. Lakewood police received a report of a possible DUI driver on Dec. 23. Officers first saw the vehicle near West Colfax Avenue and Sheridan Boulevard. After initiating a traffic stop, police noted the windshield was so dirty it was difficult to see through. Both airbags were also deployed. The driver appeared to be under the influence of drugs and was taken into custody.
Checked out. Police responded to Crossland Economy Suites, 715 Kipling St., on Dec. 22 for a welfare check. A woman called the front desk and said her husband was staying there and might be suicidal. The room should have been vacant, but the clerk found a man inside. In the room, police observed a 5-inch sheathed knife on the bed as well as what looked like meth. The man was arrested.
Holiday shopping? Police were called to Victoria’s Secret, 14500 W. Colfax Ave., on Dec. 13 for shoplifting. A woman entered the store with a man and another woman and started asking questions, showing an employee photos of items on her phone. Meanwhile, the employee heard what sounded like the “pop” of a security tag being removed. The employee later realized a bottle of perfume was gone.
Thief leaves ID. Police responded to Sears, 10785 W. Colfax Ave., on Dec. 11 after a woman stole a pair of Timberland boots and two rings. The woman had tried to return the boots but they still had security tags. An employee asked to make a copy of her driver’s license, and the woman complied. She then stormed out with the items. A warrant was issued.
