Even cheapskates like to feel fancy, if even for an afternoon. The Denver Art Museum’s popular “Passport to Paris” exhibit is the perfect place to experience Parisian life without the expense. So far, this is the best deal we’ve found on tickets. You can save $5 on a full-priced adult ticket (reg. $22) for time slots after 4 p.m. every Thursday, through Jan. 30. Choose from 4 p.m., 4:30 p.m., 5 p.m. or 5:30 p.m. The special exhibition is three shows in one, each representing an era in France’s transition from the monarchy of Louis XIV in the late 17th century to the cafe society of the early 20th. It’s also the perfect time for those who don’t like big crowds, as Thursday afternoons tend to be a less busy, more relaxed time to see the show.
Score at the zoo
Here’s a wild deal that caught our attention. The Denver Zoo is offering 50 percent-off admission (adults or children) to Broncos fans wearing orange or their favorite Bronco apparel any day through Jan. 19. While the Zoo rarely offers ticket discounts, apparently the resident orangutans are “hardcore” Broncos fans, with their naturally orange color, and convinced the powers that be to let Denverites score. The zoo is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. 2300 Steele St.
Health matters
The Little Clinic opens its newest neighborhood health clinic outlet in the Parker King Soopers (12959 S. Parker Road) with a storewide Health & Wellness Celebration on Jan. 18. From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. take advantage of free health screenings (blood pressure, BMI and blood glucose), consultation with registered dietitians, shopping seminars and cooking demonstrations. Enjoy product samples and refreshments. Kids won’t want to miss the free Teddy Bear Clinic. Children choose a Little Clinic bear who receives a thorough, but not scary, “checkup” from a nurse practitioner, and then teddy gets to go home.
Under pressure
At Discount Tire you can get a free tire pressure check, no matter where you bought your tires. You also save in the long run because low pressure (tires expand and contract in the winter with changing temperatures) can reduce your mpg, and then you spend more on gas). Discount Tire, will inspect your treads and adjust your pressure in less than 10 minutes.
