Those bow ties imprinted with images of the brain that several of the men were wearing at the St. Anthony Hospital Gala? Rest assured, no one was trying to say, “Look! I’m really smart.”
The ties, special-ordered for the occasion, were a clever way for the doctors and administrators to emphasize where the evening’s proceeds would go.
The net income, said to be “upwards of $275,000,” is earmarked for the Lakewood hospital’s new . “Neurosciences is a specialty at St. Anthony Hospital,” said president/CEO Jeff Brickman, “and our new center will address, in a single location, individual needs in all phases of brain and nervous system health.”
Joe and Gail Coors were honorary chairs of the Jan. 25 event held at the Marriott City Center. Physician co-chairs were Drs. A. Stewart Levy and Richard H. Smith.
Cocktail hour found the 610 guests bidding on silent-auction items while enjoying the piano stylings of David Brussel from the Colorado Symphony. After dinner there was a show by comedian Sam Adams and dancing to the music of Soul X.
donated $10,000 in gift cards, and the committee decided to award them by placing a card, with a value ranging from $50 to $500, under one chair at each table.
