AURORA — His signing day won’t be for another year, but that won’t stop Tim Lynott from learning, lurking and absorbing.
“I’ll be watching,” the Regis Jesuit junior said.
On the shortlist of top in-state recruits for the 2015 class, the 6-foot-4, 295-pound offensive lineman already has begun preparation for his senior season as well as the next level.
“I’d like to enjoy the process, get in all of my visits, make an early commitment, then be able to enjoy my senior year,” the 17-year-old resident of Parker said.
In 2014, Lynott will also move back to guard for the Class 5A Raiders. He was a tackle as a junior, a move from his 10th-grade play as a guard. And he has a recruiting video in which he basically smashes defenders in his way.
To date, both Colorado and Colorado State have offered, and Lynott has only allowed that he isn’t intent on staying home or going away.
Twelve months before the current batch of juniors can make it official with a college, two have committed to Nebraska. Avery Anderson of 4A Pine Creek (Colorado Springs) and Eric Lee of 5A Valor Christian (Highlands Ranch), both defensive backs, are the first locals to declare.
Nebraska also is known to have major interest in athletic quarterback Austin Conway of Overland in Aurora.
Otherwise, Colorado, which ordinarily has been about providing linemen to the major powers, instead points to next season with more of an array of skill players.
Wide receivers Collin Root of Ralston Valley (Arvada) and Jordan Willis of Denver East have size and speed to top a fairly deep group.
Running back Chuk Obinnah of Grandview (Aurora) may top his position in the offseason. He displayed speed and power after sitting out the first four games of 2013 for transferring from Regis Jesuit. Others include Denver South powerful plug Trevonte Tasco, Cherry Creek’s speedy and resilient Milo Hall and Cherokee Trail’s Cameron Smith.
Other skill players to watch: Chatfield quarterback Kyle Winkler, Montrose fullback Mike Rocha and Pueblo Centennial athlete Quincy Kindred. Defensive end Cooper Gardner of Broomfield also may command some attention.
