Over the past month, we asked Denver Post readers and our staff to help us come up with a list of people in Colorado who should be recognized for their extraordinary accomplishments or ideas that either occurred or came to fruition in 2013.

Food and drink

WINNER:

Delores Tronco, a street food pioneer and partner in the , which opened last month on 25th and Larimer streets in the RiNo neighborhood of Denver. Tronco left a job as a strategic communications consultant to follow her passion, forming the Justice League of Street Food. The Denver Post’s Kristen Browning-Blas says Work & Class, which was constructed from a shipping container, is “the kind of place you wish were in your neighborhood so you could eat there every week.”

HONORABLE MENTION:

Jon Emanuel, Project Angel Heart’s executive chef and independent blogger. Emanuel is founder of the and is a driving force behind at the Colorado Convention Center. In November, 40 restaurants participated in the gala to benefit Project Angel Heart, which dishes out some 1,000 meals a day at no cost to people with life-threatening illnesses.
