WKRC’s Bob Herzog put his plea fordrivers to stay off the city’s icy streetsto music for the station’s Friday morning broadcast. Hisversion of the song called “Just Don’t Go,” featuresHerzog dramatically crooning lines like: “I must share what dispatchers say, all the traction’s gone. School’s closed or at least they’re on a delay” while images show cars skidding on icy roads.
Videoof hisperformance has been widely shared on social media sites andmedia outlets nationwide since it aired. The video on Herzog’s ownwas just shy of 600,000 views as of Sunday evening.
Herzog said he got the idea from watching the movie with his daughter twice as well as countless YouTube viewings of the songs with her at home. He saw the perfect opportunity to change the wordssung by Princess Elsa in the animated movie to a warning for viewers to stay indoors during dangerous winter weather.
The parody is part of the station’s “Dance Party Fridays” in whichHerzog regularly parodies popular songs to reference local traffic news. Past covers include changingElton John’s “Rocket Man” to “Traffic Man” and Tom Petty’s “Free Falling” to “Tree Falling,” as well as contemporary songs byMiley Cyrus and Lorde.
