Getting your player ready...

Saturday. Culturally, we’re about as far from New Orleans as you can get, but our love of music, drink and dancing would go over well in the Big Easy. In addition to various Mardi Gras parties around town on March 1, revelers can get their masks on at the “Carnevale Masquerade” at Interstate Kitchen & Bar (1001 Santa Fe Drive). The $20-$25 tickets let attendees enter into a costume contest and include music, dancing, hors d’oeuvres and a cocktail. Proceeds benefit the Downtown Colorado Inc. and Denver’s Art District on Santa Fe. Also March 1, KGNU Community Radio will hold its annual benefit/dance party with Colorado Friends of Cajun-Zydeco Music, featuring food, drinks and live tunes from Cajun dance band L’Angelus (pictured). 7 p.m. Avalon Ballroom, 6185 Arapahoe Road in Boulder. $20-$25. .
