Friday. When the Denver Women’s Chorus first assembled under founding director Carol White, it was a safe place for feminists and lesbians to gather and celebrate music. Some of its members even changed their names in the performance programs for fear of losing their jobs. Fortunately, times have changed — which makes the DWC’s 30th-anniversary concert long in the making. White will return for the show, which is setting the stage for a DWC summer tour and future symphony collaborations. Comedian Suzanne Westenhoefer, the first lesbian comedian to appear on national TV (HBO, “Late Night with David Letterman”), will also perform. 7:30 p.m. April 4 at the Newman Center for the Performing Arts, 2344 E. Iliff Ave. $18-$40. 303-325-3959 or .
