Q: A recent TechKnow article said that if you use Google Chrome as your access to the Internet instead of Internet Explorer, they will keep on security features so you can continue using Windows XP. Do you know if that is correct?

A: Yes, Google has said it will continue to for XP computers until April 2015. Microsoft ended technical and security support for the 12-year-old XP last week, a move aimed at encouraging users to upgrade to a new operating system. “Our goal is to support Chrome for XP users during this transition process,” Google said in October. “Most importantly, Chrome on XP will still be automatically updated with the latest security fixes to protect against malware and phishing attacks.” Chrome is an excellent alternative to IE or Firefox even if your computer isn’t powered by XP.
