, weekend one, has come and gone. It seems that everybody wants to talk about fashion and the lack of “fandom” at the festival. Hell, even Win Butler from Arcade Fire was throwing out his critiques of the festival.
But, hopefully some of Coachella is still about the music, and this past weekend had no shortage of special guests and surprise moments. Arcade Fire brought out Blondie’s Debbie Harry, OutKast gave a shout-out to Colorado during its first show in six years and Pharrell brought out every A-List star he could find.
Watch our five favorite full sets from Coachella 2014 below.
5) Future Islands
No band has benefited from a Letterman appearance-turned-meme as much as . Lead vocalist Samuel T. Herring is never short on personality on stage. His theatrics and dance moves translated well to one of the year’s biggest stages at Coachella 2014.
4) Pharrell Williams
The stars aligned for over the weekend. The audacious producer brought the business to the stage with a star-studded guest list that included Diplo, Tyler the Creator, Snoop Dogg and Gwen Stefani. If you notice really closely, you’ll see Lorde shaking her can onstage for “Happy.”
3) Nas
Who said and couldn’t squash their beef? An olive branch was extended in Indio over the weekend that had Hova and Nas sharing the stage to the tune of “Dead Presidents” and “Where I’m From.” Not to be outdone by the ex-Brooklyn Nets owner, crashed the party for a take on “Hate Me Now.”
2) Arcade Fire
brought down the house down as Coachella’s last act on Sunday. Win Butler and crew have been doing a slew of covers on their “Reflektor” tour and very fittingly brought Blondie to share vocal duties on “Heart of Glass.” Debbie Harry stuck around to contribute on “Sprawl II.”
1) Outkast Coachella 2014 full set
had their first show in six years, which automatically made it THE MUST SEE attraction for the weekend. The ATLiens came correct with a backing horn section and also shouted out Colorado during their set. The short(ish) set ended abruptly, but guarantee that weekend two will remedy that right quick.
