1 Suspicious substance. On April 27, a Golden police officer went to the 2400 block of East Street, Golden, where a resident reported finding a suspicious substance he thought was possibly blood on his vehicle. The red substance on the hood, tires and rear window was also seen on other vehicles nearby. Nothing else indicated a crime scene.

2 Careless in the canyon. Two drivers were cited with careless driving April 26 by Golden police after one driver reported that the other purposely collided his vehicle with hers at the intersection of U.S. 6 and Colorado 58. Each driver accused the other of aggressive driving while the two were traveling east in Clear Creek Canyon. Since it was unclear who was at fault, both received a summons.

3 Entrepreneurial son. Jefferson County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a disturbance in the 600 block of Soda Creek Drive, Evergreen, on April 30. A mother and father reported that their son, 20, was yelling and breaking things because he wanted to move out and own his own business but they would not fund his venture. The parents said their son has never held a job and routinely had such fits. They hoped the police would “scare him.”

4 Squatters snuffed out. Deputies responded to a home in the 3900 block of South Palo Verde Road, Evergreen, on May 2 in reference to a burglary. A real estate agent selling the home said he arrived that day to find a person sleeping on a bed who ran into the woods when discovered. The same thing happened when he confronted a man in April who claimed to be renting the home.
