Pablo Mastroeni will become the fifth player inducted into the club’s , a Rapids’ source told The Denver Post.

The Rapids plan to celebrate their first-year head coach’s playing career on July 25, as the club hosts Chivas USA at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park.

Mastroeni was the Rapids’ longest-tenured captain, wearing the armband from 2004 through June 16, 2013, and is the club leader in games (225) and minutes (18,669) played.

He will join Marcelo Balboa, Paul Bravo, Chris Henderson and John Spencer in the Rapids’ Gallery of Honor, and is .

The Gallery of Honor, located above the west stands at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park, was established in 2003 to “forever honor outstanding former members of the Colorado Rapids.”

Mastroeni represented the United States in two World Cups, in 2002 and 2006.

After more than a decade with the Rapids, , where he finished his playing career.

He guided the Rapids through the 2014 preseason in an interim role after the departure of and was .
