
1 Armed man afraid of shadows. On July 24, a patrol officer noticed a man at the intersection of West 84th Avenue and Parfet Court, Arvada, carrying a hatchet. After initiating a stop, the suspect was found to also be carrying three knives, metallic knuckles and a club with a metal spike sticking out of the end. He said he carried the weapons for protection after seeing shadows while walking along Little Dry Creek Trail. He was issued a summons for possessing an illegal weapon.
2 Paint huffing Spartacus. A man with a bloody face was found pounding the windows of the Arvada Police Department, 8101 Ralston Road, on July 29. After drinking a few beers in Snake Park, the victim said a man who looked like “Spartacus” was huffing paint and attacked him for no reason.
3 Family feud. Two brothers-in-law traded punches July 24 in the 9200 block of Oberon Road after a night of drinking. One had accused the other of hitting on his girlfriend, and both declined to press charges.
4 Road rage. Police received two phone calls July 26 that an occupant of a golden Dodge Journey had stepped out of the vehicle and punched the driver of another car at West 67th Avenue and Wadsworth Boulevard. The victim said he swerved to avoid a pothole, angering the occupants of the Dodge Journey.
5 Ford smash-up. Multiple witnesses reported seeing a 2006 Ford F-150 driving at high speeds and running red lights before smashing into a light pole at West 80th Avenue and Sheridan Boulevard on July 29. Police located the driver and issued a summons with multiple charges.
