is back with a new song that should make fans of his early rap-electro leanings take notice.

“Wow” is Beck like we’ve heard him before, specifically on “Mellow Gold,” “Odelay” and “Guero.” “It’s my life, your life / live it once, can’t live it twice,” the singer-songrapper spits over an marching drum beat and a synth-y flute. Unlike his last album, the aim is dumb fun, and suitably, it sounds like Beck’s take on party rap. No wonder he tapped 3OH!3’s Sean Parker for one of the album’s songwriting sessions.

There have been whispers of an album of high-tempo yin to Beck’s “Morning Phase” yang . No word if “Wow” is apart of that long-awaited album or not.

Listen to “Wow” below.
