Labor Day weekend will be the last chance to take the easy way up one of Colorado’s most popular fourteeners.

On Sept. 2, the Colorado Department of Transportation will close the top portion of Mount Evans Highway, the highest paved road in North America that rises nearly 9,000 feet to the 14,264-foot summit of Mount Evans.

Mt. Evans had a dusting of this morning! Additional 1-2 in possible overnight tonight above timberline.
