Plenty of bold-face names in Colorado — from to — have taken the ALS icebucket challenge, which has raised to fight those suffering from ALS or Lou Gehrig’s disease.

In Colorado’s 6th Congressional District, and his Democrat challenger, , had ice water poured over their heads. Coffman kept his pledge to donate $1 for each Facebook “like” he got of the video and wrote a personal check for $1,136 to the ALS Association. He made it out to #StrikeOutAls.

Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and the spinal cord. It’s also called Lou Gehrig disease after the famed baseball player who came down with it brought attention to the disease.
