Interview with Tulay Karaketir, owner
Q: How did you get involved in this business?
A: I started tailoring years ago, when I was just 12, as a hobby. I was making dresses from scratch. When I moved to the United States, my father-in-law, who was head tailor at Brooks Brothers back then, opened Season Tailors and suggested we work together. This how I started my business.
Q: What distinguishes you from other businesses in your category?
A: At Season Tailors, we are distinguished in comparison to other businesses because of our pride and perfectionism in the work we do. Nothing is complete until it is the best possible job done, and if we must, we will do it over and over again, until it is right.
Q: What do you like best about your line of work?
A: Even if this is our livelihood, seeing our customers become genuinely happy and amazed at the work we have done has its own intrinsic value.
Q: What is your business’ biggest challenge?
A: As an experienced tailor, I give my customers my professional opinion as to what changes should be made to their clothes. But sometimes they insist on having it their own way, which might not be the best outcome, and I cannot convince them, at times.
Q: Something people might be surprised to learn about you or your business:
A: I went to college in Turkey for a degree in journalism. After fours years of college, I did attain my bachelor’s degree.
