Authorities in Mesa County are asking residents to be vigilant overnight Monday as the area experiences “the most significant rain event” since the massive slide occurred.
The county’s emergency manager initiated calls to more than 1,000 phones about 4 p.m. Monday relaying information about the possibility of flash flooding.
“This weather event is likely to produce 1 to 2 inches (of rain),” the county sheriff’s office said.
Authorities told residents that the calls were not an evacuation order, but were meant to encourage vigilance as the weather system moves through the Western Slope.
Those living along Salt Creek Road in Collbran are especially encouraged to stay alert.
Experts last week said and debris slid down the Grand Mesa, killing three men.
