The new Aurora city attorney is the old one, sort of.

Mike Hyman, the current interim city attorney, will be named to the permanent job Monday by the City Council, Aurora officials announced.

Hyman, 53, took over on an interim basis after longtime City Attorney Charlie Richardson retired in April. Hyman, who was selected from a list of 21 candidates for the position, has been with the city attorney’s office in Aurora for 28 years.

As city attorney, Hyman will oversee 51 employees and an $8.1 million budget.
