Four starters for Cherry Creek High School football won’t be making the trip to California for a Week 4 matchup. They are suspended, Bruins coach Dave Logan confirmed on Wednesday.

Cherry Creek is to face Grand Terrace, Calif., on Friday night.

“There are team rules and regulations, and when you violate them, there are consequences,” said Logan, who wouldn’t identify the players.

The Bruins, who began the season ranked No. 2 in the Associated Press Class 5A media poll, are 1-2 versus a strong nonleague schedule. They opened with a defeat of Regis Jesuit, another preseason top-10 team; lost by two points to Pomona, which has climbed to the No. 2 ranking; and last week were whipped 38-14 by Jordan, Utah, which is expected to contend for its state title.

After Grand Terrace, the Bruins will head into Centennial League play.
