Witnesses saw a man struck and killed Friday evening after he dashed into the middle of an Aurora street seemingly without looking.
The man, whose name and age have not been released, was thrown to the right side of East Colfax Avenue, according to an Aurora police news release.
A man was driving a Ford pickup west on East Colfax Avenue at 5:52 p.m. just west of Boston Street when a pedestrian darted directly in front of him, the news release says.
The impact of the collision threw the pedestrian off to the right side of the avenue. The man was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead at 7:57 p.m.
The pickup driver stopped immediately and described what happened.
“Neither excessive speed nor intoxication is suspected with the driver,” the news release says. “There are independent witnesses and all indications at this time point to the pedestrian being at fault by darting into traffic. We do not expect charges to be filed in this case.”
