Re: “Two Jeffco high schools close Friday after teachers are absent,” Sept. 20 news story.

While I agree that the curriculum review issue was presented poorly by the Jefferson County school board, the reaction of teachers via a “sick-out” is largely fear of change. Change to address teacher accountability for student results, change to improve student performance through documented results, change to reflect the values of the entire community and not just those who select which books our students use, and change that was supported by a majority of residents in the district when it voted in the new board majority.
