Getting your player ready...

Interview with Jim Taylor, owner

Q: How did you get involved in this business?

A: I’ve always loved to read, and that was carried over to my history degree in college. What better business to have for an avid reader than a bookstore to allow others to enjoy reading also.

Q: What distinguishes you from other businesses in your category?

A: We are a family-friendly store with a warm hometown feel where you can grab a complimentary coffee, tea and popcorn. We welcome anyone coming in to grab a book, sit a spell and see if it is something they would like to buy and finish reading at home. We also offer gaming events from chess, tabletop board games (“Talisman,” “Pandemic,” etc.) to role-playing games.

Q: What do you like best about your line of work?

A: Meeting friendly people and watching them discover a book they may not have known existed.

Q: What is your business’ biggest challenge?

A: Trying to compete with the technology of today. Luckily, there are people who love the feel of a book in their hands.

Q: Something people might be surprised to learn about you or your business:

A: I personally have been a reader for 40-plus years and a gamer for more than 30 years. We are continually expanding our ever growing inventory, and always have books coming in. And when I say books, I mean thousands of books at a time.
