“It’s just good ol’ 6-man football.”

That’s how Cotopaxi coach Jeremy Cole said about his Pirates’ 83-56 win over Antonito Friday night. The 139 combined points is the ninth highest total in state history.

“In the pistol formation, they couldn’t stop us,” Cole said. “We were running great.”

Up by just a touchdown after three quarters, Cotopaxi had to keep its offensive rhythm going. The Pirates pulled away late when “their boys got tired and ours didn’t,” Cole said.

Cotopaxi improves to 4-2, while Antonito falls to 3-3. It was the highest scoring game since 2002.
