A Grand Junction police officer has been arrested and placed on administrative leave after he was accused of damaging property belonging to a former girlfriend and her husband.

Gage Wright, an eight-year veteran of the force, faces several charges relating to criminal mischief and domestic violence, police said Thursday.

“Wright has been placed on administrative leave without pay pending the final resolution of the concurrent internal affairs investigation by our agency,” police said in a news release.

Wright’s former girlfriend is a 911 dispatcher for the police department, and her husband is a Mesa County sheriff’s deputy.

Police said they worked with the sheriff’s office in the investigation.
