Three people, including a child, were taken to the hospital on Wednesday night after a vehicle struck a group of pedestrians in southwest Denver and then fled, police said.

Police reported the hit-and-run about 11 p.m., saying the collision happened near the intersection of Morrison Road and South Stuart Street. A man, a woman and a child were walking on a sidewalk when they were hit.

The child, about 3 or 4 years old, was seriously injured, police said.

A black Jeep was seen heading south on Morrison after the hit-and-run.

Police said the intersection reopened about 6:30 a.m.
