ThunderRidge High School in Highlands Ranch have been dismissed on Thursday morning following a fume release, officials said.

The release happened during the cleaning of equipment, said Jay Ruoff, a spokesman for the Littleton Fire Department. Students were initially evacuated.

Douglas County Schools described the equipment as an “automatic floor cleaner.”

“ThunderRidge High School has been evacuated due to an unusual odor in the school,” the district said in a statement. “Littleton Fire Department is currently ventilating the school.”

The district said students who normally walk or drive to school will be allowed to leave at 10:50 a.m.

“Students who typically ride the bus will be taken to their regular bus stop,” the district said. “Parents that wish to pick up their students may do so now.”
