is a project of the Terra Foundation, a private foundation focused on restoring the Colorado River basin. Its goal is to promote a network of gardens that welcome songbirds and pollinators — from bees and wasps to hummingbirds and The gardens that are part of that patchwork can be as small as a few pots on a balcony or as large as a public park or ranch.
Habitat Hero gardens include diverse layers, food and shelter for wildlife in different seasons, plus water for drinking and bathing. They refrain from spreading invasive species, conserve water and energy and don’t rely on regular use of chemical fertilizers or pesticides.
