It takes a lot to catch Stephen Colbert unawares. But singer Robert Plant did just that on Oct. 9 when he handed Colbert a well-rolled joint mid-interview.
“I brought you a little present from our stock room,” Plant said, reaching into his shirt pocket and revealing a hand-rolled joint.
“Whatap that?” Colbert asked, quickly reverting to, “letap find out what this is later, shall we?”
After the shock wore off Colbertap face, he covered his own butt with a humorous cover-up: “For the purposes of my lawyer and my network,” Colbert said, barely holding in his surprised laughter, “this is a cigarette.”
