The Democratic candidates who are so keen to distance themselves from President Obama deserve to lose. If they don’t embrace the hopes and ideals he represents — the very heart of traditional Democratic values — what do they believe in? They should be reminding the people of the hateful, obstructionist House, the Bush recession and our successful recovery under Obama, the suicidal debt crises, and especially the way George W. Bush and his cronies stuck us with the tar baby of the endless wars in the Middle East. I can’t imagine anyone who could have accomplished more in such a divided country and with the leadership of the fractured world he was handed in 2009. I say, Bravo, Mister President! And shame on those who will not claim him as their own.
