A that officials say caused more than $5 million damage after charring dozens of classic cars is thought to have been started by a gas leak.
Mountain View Fire Rescue said Wednesday in a news release that investigators have completed their inquiry into the Oct. 8 barn blaze.
“How the gas leak started is inconclusive,” the release said, adding that the cause of the fire will be listed as undetermined.
Flames engulfed the barn, where about 70 vintage cars, many of them Cadillacs, were being housed, destroying many of them. The fire began about 9 a.m. on the 3100 block of Lowell Lane.
A man restoring the cars told fire officials he heard an explosion in a mobile home adjacent to the barn. The explosion ignited the barn, quickly consuming the structure.
Smoke from the fire could be seen from Westminster.
