Chauncey Billups has had a heck of a 24 hours.

On Tuesday afternoon, he that has joined ESPN as a studio analyst for the upcoming season, a gig that will allow him to reside in his hometown of Denver while occasionally flying out to Connecticut to The Mothership for production.

Then, on Wednesday morning, it was announced that he — along with Roy Halladay, Becky Hammon and three others — will be .

Yes, it’s been a good day for Billups.

“It’s always a great honor to be in anyone’s hall of fame,” Billups said on The Press Box Wednesday. “That kinda means you’re getting old.”

Billups, who announced his retirement in September after playing 17 seasons in the league, reiterated that broadcasting was something he had been wanting to do for some time, along with joining a front office. Of his two post-career paths, he chose the TV route — one he’s excited about and committed to.

“I wouldn’t say I’ve changed my mind (about wanting to join a front office), but I will say that my stance has softened a little bit,” Billups said. “You just kind of never know. I could do this thing for a year and I could fall in love with it or I can do it and say, ‘Man, I’m not close enough to the game. … And the same could be said with a front office.”

Billups admitted he’ll miss the camaraderie of playing in the NBA, but not necessarily training camp or the daily grind. He knew it was time to call it quits when he did. If anything, he can now head to Arizona in February if his beloved Broncos — — make it back to the Super Bowl.
