A Fruita man was arrested Thursday, charged with three counts of child abuse.
It marked the second time this year that Zachary McLaughlin, 21, has been arrested. In May, Mesa County officials said, he was arrested by the Fruita Police Department on charges related to auto theft.
In the most recent case, officials say, investigators were called to a local hospital on Oct. 13, after an infant was brought into the emergency facility with possible broken bones.
Through the course of the investigation, according to the arrest warrant, McLaughlin admitted to having a temper and knowing that he may have injured the child.
McLaughlin has been charged with three felony charges of child abuse, one misdemeanor charge of child abuse, two felony counts of violation of bail bond conditions, and one misdemeanor charge of violation of a protection order.
McLaughlin is scheduled to appear in court on Oct. 22.
