Street closures will be common in and around downtown Denver on Sunday as an estimated 15,000 runners participate in the annual Janus Rock’n’Roll marathon and its associated races.
Most between 6 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.
Routes for the various races stretch from Sloans Lake in the west and City Park in the east while spurs extend north to 29th and Larimer streets and south to Washington Park by way of Speer Boulevard and Marion Street.
The soft closure of the entire route begins at 6 a.m. and the main race starts at 7:15 a.m. At most points along the course, pedestrians and bicyclists may cross the course during safe gaps in runners.
Streets should all be reopened by mid-afternoon.
In addition to the main marathon, Sunday’s event includes a ½ marathon and 10K and 5K races. There is also a free Health & Fitness Expo at the Colorado Convention Center.
